December 12-17, 2023 | DFW, TX
We live in a society that touts individualism and independence. Though many people seek community, many have found it challenging to find spaces of true affirmation and belonging. While often not openly addressed, the evidence conveys that the impacts of colonization are very real and have had a detrimental impact not only on individuals and families, but also on the ways in which those of us in the Diaspora view and experience community.

"When you don't have community, you are not listened to; you don't have a place to go to and feel that you really belong. You don't have people to affirm who you are and to support you in bringing forward your gifts." - Sobonfu Some

Sistahood is an intimate retreat experience where women of diverse backgrounds are able to explore what it means to show up authentically and unapologetically in a Spirit-centered, ancestrally-rooted community. Across our 5 days and 4 night experience in Forth Worth, TX, we will create a new definition of what it means to truly belong and be celebrated for who we are. Sistahood will offer an opportunity for us to challenge narratives regarding how we show up in relationships, view new ones, create community, and reimagine sisterhood without pressure to conform; all while engaging in experiences rooted in African spirituality.

He serves as an instrumental asset in the spiritual infrastructure of SHYNE as an institutional Ancestral movement and we are so blessed that he'll be visiting from Nigeria during the time of our annual retreat.
